We were predicted to have rain. In my neck of the woods the sky was blanketed with white cloud coverage. I figured that I had at least a couple of minutes to take these pictures. I was spot on in my prediction as midway through the shoot I watched the dark clouds roll in. About five minutes after the shots were taken, the rain started coming down. Ahhhh how I love a rainy day! It’s so nice to curl up on the couch with hot tea and a good book but what I find even more interesting are photographs of a dark and cloudy sky, the signs of an impending storm. The wind was kicking at the top of the ridge and provided a natural wind-blowing machine of sorts. It’s an effect I love in photos, yet didn’t have to manufacture.
I must say I was a little cold but I loved being on the top of the hill with the wind whirling around me. I felt so carefree in this moment. Typically on a windy day, I’m trying to hold onto things so they aren’t blown away. I didn’t have anything to hold onto so I just went with it. I certainly wasn’t worried about my dress flying up and in the end I was having so much fun in the breeze, that my lipstick turned strands of my hair pink.
This convertible dress which stayed nicely put through those wind gusts is by Olivaceous and it is designed to be worn many ways–strapless, as a halter, etc. Versatility is always key. I chose to wear the dress with the fabric panels twisted down my back and then tied around the waist. I found this dress at Mikinola, a great boutique near my house.
One day while at Koko Marina Shopping Center I wandered in. I remembered an acquaintance suggesting that I check it out. Mikinola is a FABULOUS one stop shop for clothing and accessories. The owner Dara Fujio stocks unique pieces from many designers including local designers from Hawaii. She gets a new shipment just about everyday and with such a wide variety of items, it’s nearly impossible to walk into the boutique without walking out with something amazing!!! Lucky for me, the store is five minutes away. Eek!
By now, my love for Hermes and horses is evident. The Sterling Silver horse jewelry that I am wearing is from the Hermes Galop Collection. I fell fast and hard for these pieces. They are absolute works of art. Hermes, known for their fine craftsmanship and unsurpassed attention to detail never ceases to amaze me as they are always revealing their superior designs in such subtle ways. This makes Hermes, Hermes. The most amazing thing about the Galop collection is the intricate detail of the horse. While one may look and see just a horse head, the entire being of the animal comes to life with the flick of a wrist or hand as the eye sockets and nostrils reveal themselves. It is then you see the true power and grace of the horse. Just exquisite.
I love the look of layered bracelets so I paired a Hermes CDC with the Galop bangle. I also love statement rings. I went simple with my earrings which are silver hoops with Tahitian Pearls that I got from SurferGirlJewelry on Etsy.
I thought a darker lip and brighter eyes suited this look which led me to reach for the Dior Rose Charmeuse Eyeshadow Palette. These shadows boast beautiful bright pinks and peaches for Spring. The colors aren’t too shimmery but have just enough sheen to make eyes standout. I have found Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing liquid lipsticks to last all day without either a sticky nor dry feeling. Witty is beautiful shade if you’re looking for a nice dark wine/burgundy color.
